1. How long will the planning process take?
Mequon Commons kicked off in January of 2025 and is expected to wrap up by the end of this year or early 2026.
2. Will there be opportunities for public input?
Absolutely! Community engagement is a cornerstone of this process. There will be multiple opportunities for residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to share their ideas and feedback.
3. How will this be funded?
Funding for Mequon Commons was authorized through the City’s ARPA Spending Plan under the Quality of Life objective of the City’s Strategic Plan. Once the Master Plan is complete, the City will explore funding options for future improvements in the form of grants, partnerships, and phased implementation to ensure cost effective solutions.
4. Is the pool closing?
At this time, no final decisions have been made regarding the future of the pool. Community input will play a critical role in determining how to best meet the needs of the residents of Mequon and Mequon Central will explore a range of options for the pool and aquatic facilities. We are committed to listening to the community and evaluating all possibilities before decisions are made.
5. What is happening to the Rennicke Baseball Field?
Rennicke Baseball Field is an important part of Mequon’s history and continues to serve as a valued community asset. The planning process will include an in-depth assessment of the field’s condition and functionality, and we will work closely with key stakeholders (including local sports organizations and residents) to ensure that its role in the community is carefully considered and that it aligns with the overall vision for the Civic Campus.
6. How can I stay informed about the project?
The City will provide regular updates on the Mequon Commons process through its website, social media channels, and through public meetings. Be sure to navigate to our pop-up window, where you can sign up to receive emails and stay in the loop!
